Bio:
Monic Reyes was born and raised in San Antonio, Texas. From a young age, she displayed a deep interest in the arts, actively engaging in projects that sparked her imagination. This passion for creativity was nurtured by her mother and through her mother’s fashion brand, Malen Reyes Couture. As the creative director, Monic initially co-designed with her mother, whose unwavering support and innovative spirit profoundly influenced her artistic journey, allowing Monic to explore her creativity and build the confidence to pursue her own vision. Over time, Monic embraced various creative disciplines, including photography, set design, and makeup artistry, developing her unique eye for aesthetics. In 2015, she picked up a paintbrush and began her journey of bringing life to the canvas. Two years later, in 2017, she became a Gallery Representative Artist, further establishing her presence in the art community. The appreciation she receives for her art fuels her ambition. Having showcased her work in national galleries and international publications, Monic aspires to exhibit her pieces worldwide. The dream of having her artwork displayed in global art hubs inspires her to reach new heights. Monic is a visionary artist determined to leave her mark on the art world. Her imaginative spirit and freedom of expression come alive through bold, dynamic abstract forms and rich textures, featuring vibrant and monochromatic color palettes.
Artist Statement:
My intention as an artist is to infuse every canvas with a range of sentiments, beliefs, and concepts, articulating a true significance to my art. Focusing on contemporary abstraction, I favor the use of acrylic paint on canvas, experimenting with various techniques such as modeling paste and textiles to go beyond the traditional norms. I am fascinated by the combination of chromatic schemes and create a mixture of vivid or muted hues tailored to each art style I discover. As an active artist, I am continuously refining and developing my skills, constructing a distinct style while retaining an open mind to pursue new explorations. I believe that profoundly connecting to an audience is essential, providing a sense of emotion and understanding that encourages them to innovate, in turn, creating meaning for each individual. My art is meant to provoke thought, feeling, and engagement.

Bio:
Malen Reyes is a multidisciplinary artist. Born in Managua, Nicaragua, she discovered her passion for fashion at an early age. After beginning her fashion education as a designer at just 15, she moved to San Antonio, TX, to launch her career in the late 1980s. She later graduated from Barbizon Modeling School in 1985, gaining experience in all aspects of the fashion industry, including hair, makeup, and teaching runway techniques to her own models while modeling her own garments. In the 1990s, Malen gained media recognition and utilized her platform to host charity fashion shows for various organizations. In 1991, she opened her first boutique, specializing in high-end custom designs, including bridal and formal gowns. Today, she channels her creativity into contemporary fashion illustration art, creating exclusive limited edition pieces that reflect her passion for haute couture fashion.

As a multidisciplinary artist, I create art, fashion, and accessories that reflect a harmonious blend of elegance and modern style. My work incorporates various techniques and mediums, including acrylic, charcoal, and mixed media, resulting in innovative pieces that are both classic and contemporary. Each collection features unique elements, textures, and designs that transform art, garments, and accessories into canvases for personal narratives. I believe that both art and fashion serve as powerful forms of self-expression, allowing individuals to celebrate their unique styles. Through my creations, I aim to inspire a deeper connection to the artistry of individuality and the beauty of personal expression.
